An annual celebration of writers and literature
with Joseph Dandurand, Jess Housty, and jaye simpson
Poetry, for many, begins in silence—but for these Indigenous writers, it ends in resonance. This virtual panel brings together poets whose work calls us back to story as ceremony—where language doesn’t just describe, it transforms. With rhythms drawn from oral tradition, the lyric becomes a site of witnessing, resistance, and return. How does a poem carry memory in its bones? What happens when voice itself becomes a form of medicine? Guided by author and activist Patty Krawec, this conversation will open space for reflection on the poetic as both personal and communal. Whether braided from narrative, myth, or movement, these poems offer more than aesthetics—they offer ways of being and remembering. Poetry here is not a solitary act but a collective offering, rooted in relation. Join us for an intimate exploration of how poetry can serve as archive, protest, and healing ritual—all at once.
