Kateri Akiwenzie-Damm

A member of the Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation, Saugeen Ojibway Nation, Akiwenzie-Damm is an Assistant Professor at UofT, former Poet Laureate, and Kegedonce Press’ founder and publisher. Her creative work encompasses poetry, fiction, non-fiction, radio, television, libretti, graphic novels, and spoken word. The Stone Collection, short stories, was a finalist for a Sarton Literary Book Award, and her CD A Constellation of Bones was nominated for a Canadian Aboriginal Music Award. (Re)Generation: The Poetry of Kateri Akiwenzie-Damm is forthcoming (August 2021). Emily Riddle is nehiyaw and a member of the Alexander First Nation in Treaty 6.  Emily was shortlisted for the 2020 CBC Poetry Prize and selected for the 2021 Writers’ Trust of Canada mentorship program. Her work has been published in the Globe and Mail, Teen Vogue, Canadian Art, the Malahat Review, among others.
