Festival launch reading with Maia Caron, Jen Currin, Susan Juby + open mic!
Sit back and relax as our three workshop leaders read from their recent works. Maia Caron’s The Last Secret centers on two unforgettable women—a Ukrainian resistance fighter in 1944 Ukraine and a reclusive artist on Salt Spring Island in 1972—and their inextricable link to each other. Jen Currin’s Disembark, features queer characters navigating new worlds, new circumstances, and new methods of relating to the people around them. In Susan Juby’s sequel to Mindful of Murder, A Meditation on Murder, Butler-detective Helen Thorpe returns to help a wannabe influencer get her life in order—and solve the murders of her fellow content creators. They will be joined by Joseph Kakwinokanasum reading from work by the late Darrel McLeod.
This evening will begin with an open mic featuring some of our workshop participants.
