Writing for the Next Generation: the Importance of Indigenous Children’s BooksWriting for the Next Generation

When it comes to our children’s understanding of the world, there are key factors that shape their knowledge, like the people that teach them, their interactions with others, and the books they read. Join us as we delve into the world of children’s literacy as an important tool in shaping who our young tots become.

Learn about what its like to write for our next generations to support their language development, emotional growth, imagination, and cultural awareness in a way that will keep not only children and youths engaged, but parents as well. This panel will also showcase the importance of Children’s and Youth books, in not only developing literacy, but also passing on culture. Our panel guest’s will discuss what’s its like to write for youth and children from an Indigenous perspective, and why they chose this avenue of writing.
