Re-Story Forest Walk

A new Victoria Festival of Authors land-based event, Re-Story Forest Walk at W̱MÍYEŦEN Nature Sanctuary (wh-my-eh-then: Place of the Deer) invites a renewed relationship to place as we explore the connection between land, story, and survival.

Long before books, stories were shared on the land. In this walk, former Focus magazine book columnist Amy Reiswig leads us into the deep green peace surrounding Mary Lake and into the words of three guest readers: poet Melanie Siebert, journalist Sarah Cox, and Indigenous ecologist and scholar Dr. Jennifer Grenz. Diverse in approach, their new books all touch on the importance of listening to nature as part of nature in order to revision our roles and find new hope for healing the land and ourselves.

Please note that this event will go ahead rain or shine and may feature uneven terrain. Wear appropriate shoes and be prepared for the weather with raingear, warm layers, perhaps a hot drink, and energy for over an hour’s walk.
