When it comes to writing a memoir, one is faced with a triangle of characters. Firstly, the Author Self, hoping to write a good compelling narrative. Then, the Present Self, the human behind the author hoping to offer wisdom, care and knowledge through the book. Finally, the Past Self, a passing person only known through memory with ambiguous decisions, naivety and courage.
Join first time memoirist Danny Ramadan, author of Crooked Teeth, Jen Sookfong Lee, author of Superfan; Cody Caetano, author of Half Bads in White Regalia; and Maurice Vellekoop, author of So Glad We Had This Time Together as they discuss the balance between these three aspects of writing a memoir.
